At Windsor Smiles we are proud to offer our patients the latest in periodontal treatment techniques to tackle the most complex and serious cases.

Periodontitis can be summarised as an advanced form of gum disease which requires intensive and in-depth treatment either by your dentist and hygienist, or, in more severe cases by a periodontal specialist.

If periodontitis remains untreated, it can have serious consequences including the permanent degeneration of the bone which supports the teeth and ultimately, the loss of natural teeth or even dental implants. It can also affect your overall health quite significantly.

At Windsor Smiles we will do our utmost to protect the health of your gums and can help you look after them through regular visits to our hygienists, screening and assessment appointments with our dentists and teaching you how to look after your teeth gums at home.

Untreated gum disease creates ‘pockets’ around the teeth which can become even more difficult to keep clean and thus even susceptible to plaque bacteria and the continued worsening of the disease.

Types of periodontal treatment:

  • Scaling and Polishing
  • Oral Hygiene Instruction
  • Root Planing (deep cleaning)
  • Pocket Elimination Surgery

Advanced gum disease can be treated in a number of ways, both surgically and non-surgically. Your treatment route will depend on the severity of the periodontal disease you have experienced and on the quality of your remaining teeth and bone.

At Windsor Smiles, we offer our patients a range of periodontal treatments and are confident we can restore even the most damaged teeth back to a positive and good state of oral health.
